Greetings from Home Sweet Orphanage

My journey to and from the Orphanage today was good and safe. Thanks be to God for the journey mercies.  It is believed that this road, Kampala to Masaka, has the most unprofessional taxi drivers and I want to believe this too.  While the road is now full of humps due to the ongoing road works, drivers are still carelessly over speeding. I had to keep reminding our driver to reduce on the speed 🙂

Today, I traveled with my friend, Anthony, and we arrived at the Orphanage a few minutes after 10am. Being holiday time, none of the children at the Orphanage goes to school now and we got to meet and talk to almost all of them. Today, I wanted to give time to listen to each of the kids.

At arrival, we were welcomed by some few who were around in the compound, since some were in the garden for manual work. While in Kampala we can get some rain these days, the part of the country where the Orphanage is located is still very dry and dusty. We pray that they can get some rain soon so that whatever they plant can grow well.

The children were now eager to show us their school result reports. Most of them did not perform well, but it is not the worst performance. We challenged them to work harder during the next school term.

The children appreciate the love and kindness from all of you.  They say thank you, for your prayers, gifts and donations.

The following people contributed to towards today’s trip: Rose and Pat Doyle, Natalie Duffy, Maristella Feustle, Carmel Cloran, Brooke Graham, Maginel Galt, Rose Mary Kemigisha, Sarah Nassimbwa Beingana and all who participated in the online auction.

With these donations, enough food items have been bought to take the children up to the end of the month. Domestic items like Vaseline, washing soap and tooth paste were also supplied enough for a month. Each child who goes to school got a new pair of school socks and a handkerchief.

The next visit to the Orphanage is on 25th August 2012 and it will be just a few days to the beginning of their 3rd school term. I got a list of needs from the children, most of them being scholastic items. While I was distributing the socks, I got to learn that almost all the children have very old school shoes. Can we buy them new shoes? Yes we can. Send in your donation now. Each pair goes for only $8 and we need 40.

–          We also need 20 dozens of books…………………………………….$40

–          5 school bags…………………………………………………………………….$20

–          10 mathematical sets ……………………………………………………….$20

–          3 box files, reams of paper and coloring pencils………………$10

And, four of the children are taking confirmation lessons. Each one pays $7 for these lessons, so $28 is needed for this cause. Their confirmation is set for November.

Send us your donation now. Thank you and may God bless you.
