I wrote the first 6 pages of this book before I identifying the right title I should give it. Much as in I felt the spirit was leading me to write about generosity, kindness and humility, I could not easily come up with a proper title.

A suggestion came to my mind that I should post to my facebook friends and blog readers seeking their suggestions for my new book title. Thank God this title was then suggested. I thank Maureen McDonnel for inspiring the title. I thank all my faithful friends on facebook and all followers and readers of my blog for the suggestions.

In pursuit for love and charity, I dedicated this book to the children of Home Sweet Orphanage, and I thank Mr. Robert the founder of the Orphanage for his love and care to the children over the years. May God continue to use us to carry on His goodness and kindness to these children.

“GOODNESS AND KINDNESS…YIKES!.”This is a common phrase on Fr. George David Byer’s blog.  Fr. Goeorge, the happy hermit of Holy Souls Hermitage, I thank you and your benefactors for the goodness and kindness.

And lastly, The Doyle family of YOU TURNS and the John Walker family of ALBERTUS MAGNUS ACADEMY, I am so much indebted to you. You have been the vessels of the living kind and generous Christ in my life. Thank you, thank you so much.

Most of all, I make my boast in the Lord, who never calls us to do anything that He will not help us finish.

When I got the inspiration to write this book, my reaction was, “Who will read it?” I do not have the usual credentials of those writing books——no advanced degrees in psychology or doctors of divinity. I am not famous, neither is my family nor my ministry to the youth. But the vision and calling to write has only strengthened over the years and from time to time this calling is validated by family and friends who suggested that I write a book such as this.

We live in a world in which success is measured by the size of one’s wealth or  possessions, by one’s accomplishments or fame, and in terms of one’s grades or, educational degrees, talent, position or power.

Regrettably, Christians are also often tempted to view success in terms of these temporal realities. They forget that whereas fame, education, wealth, beauty, athletic prowess, talent, and power can easily be lost, there are some things that are of enduring value—such things as compassion, love, generosity, kindness, sympathy, humility,  etc. These virtues not only measure the greatness of a person, but they also reveal who a person really is. We call these virtues character traits. According to our Lord Jesus Christ, those are the treasures that really count.

In this book I attempt to make very critical highlights about only two of the above virtues; Generosity and Kindness. May be in the future I will write another book covering humility and one more of those virtues.

I thank God that my life has been marked by several incidences of generous and kind people ranging from family, close friends and even strangers. I talk of strangers in a sense that some of these people, I have never met.

In my personal pursuit for love and charity, I could not do any good than write this book to share with you my reader about these two important treasures: Generosity and Kindness.

With clear illustrations from the Bible and my from my life experiences, you will get to know that we are all called to search and store these treasures for  our own good.

Our Lord makes this point in the following three verses of Matthew 6:19-21:

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:   But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:  For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

I now pray for you as you read this book that God will give you the grace to..

Be generous in prosperity, and thankful in adversity. Be fair in thy judgment, and guarded in thy speech. Be a lamp unto those who walk in darkness and a home to the stranger. Be eyes to the blind, and a guiding light unto the feet of the erring. Be a breath of life to the body of humankind, dew to the soil of the human heart, and a fruit upon the tree of humility.
